A Palindrome is a word, number, phrase or other sequence of symbols that read the same backwards as forwards.  Two examples of palindromes are ‘madam’ or ‘racecar’.

Sometimes, poems using palindromes are also known as mirror poems because the words can be read forwards and backwards without changing the meaning.  Palindromes give poems a particular kind of rhythm.
