List poems will contain named items, or people, or events, memories, or grammatical groups such as adjectives, or phrases or nouns.  Each line of the poem will usually contain one of the list words.  List words often have things in common throughout the poem but not always. The list words can occur anywhere in each line of the poem.

A list poem is great to use when supporting young people to enjoy poetry as they look for the various list words.
